This 12-hour qualification gives delegates the skills and knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and engage in non-judgemental conversation. Learners will gain an in depth understanding of mental health and the relevant issues that can affect wellbeing, as well as practical skills to identify appropriate triggers and signs of mental illness, and the knowledge and confidence to intervene, reassure and support a person in distress. Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.
